Anxiety Treatment

Anxiety sucks. The constant moving, potential panic attacks, inability to think straight…it feels like you’re hijacked by your own body. That’s because you are. When our body is overwhelmed by a potential danger (which can be merely the thought of something), it prepares to face it and fight, flee from it, or appease the danger to survive it. That’s brilliant if it’s temporary but many of us stay in this state chronically. The good news: we can change this pattern and reawaken a felt sense of safety.

I do this with my clients by utilizing somatic therapy techniques that re-introduce you to your body as is. This is how we learn what resources work to change this pattern and which do not. To fully embody our anxiety is what allows us to orient to what is true now and find any safety available here-and-now to lower the anxiety. Sometimes anxiety is called for, and we do not fight your body on this. Sometimes the fear is something that happened long ago and here is where we gently show the body what is true in your current reality. Updating your embodiment takes time and the utilization of practices.
